New Zealand Food
WOW!

New Zealand Food and specifically contemporary New Zealand cuisine has been stamped by the mark of Pacific Rim and Mediterranean culinary influences. Freshness and diversity are hallmarks of this cuisine. Just as home in a café as a restaurant, on a stall or in a bar. The cuisine of New Zealand reflects the relaxed attitude of a healthy nation.

Traditional New Zealand tucker, affectionately called Kuisine Kiwiana, is still represented on many tables throughout the country and down in the smallest hamlet in the furthest outlying region. In the larger cities Kiwiana mixes with other influences.

New Zealand Barbeques

Tin bowl, few coals, mussels and crayfish: All you need for a great barbeque New Zealand style. Outdoor eating is big in New Zealand. With all that wonderful New Zealand scenery it would be madness not to sit in among it eating and enjoying the view.

Chuck in sailing, camping and spending holidays at a New Zealand bach you can see that barbeques were invented for enjoying the New Zealand scenery. It might explain why food festivals are so popular too.

New Zealand Festivals of Food

New Zealand wine and food festivals are held annually across the country from Auckland to Queenstown and Nelson to Canterbury. Let’s not forget Hawke's Bay and Martinborough too for outstanding wine festivals.

In Hokitika you have the now famous wild food festival; held annually to celebrate the food and lifestyle of New Zealands west coast. A lot of odd food is on show for consumption as well as the recognisable.

As with anything New Zealand outdoors they have shows and entertainment for everyone. Festivals take their food seriously and their wine which is why New Zealand cuisine is world beating, just like their wine.

The Auckland Food Show Great cooks, wonderful food and wine from 30 Jul to 02 Aug 2009. Venue: ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane Road West, Auckland. Info Contact: North Port Events info@foodshow.co.nz
