NEW YEAR’S DAY (and the day after too!)

However it is Gisborne that's first to see the sun rise on a new year. So you have your fireworks and sometimes street parties. Remember though this is all done whilst wearing flip-flops and sun cream. Well almost true... it will be warm, even hot at night so makes a change from bitingly cold snow flurries and freezing rain.

Since you have a couple of day's holiday to enjoy (what with two day's public holiday one after the other)you may want to take advantage of the many gatherings and festivals held over the New Year. It has also been known for the New Zealand cricket team (the Black Caps) to play a One Day International cricket match in Queenstown.

Or simply hang out with friends and take in the celebrations on your holidays in New Zealand. Good Health!
