New Zealand Public Holidays
The Queen's Day

THE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY 1st Monday in June

The Queen's Official Birthday is one of the New Zealand Public Holiday's. It's sometimes known simply as "the Queen's Birthday" and as you may guess is celebrated as a public holiday in 53 Commonwealth States (or realms) although it is also celebrated in Fiji, now a republic. That's a lot of parties!

The day is also the time that (and I quote...) "The Queen is pleased, on the occasion of the celebration of The Queen's Birthday, to make the following appointments..." So all you folks up for Orders of Merit and the like get to celebrate too!

This particular public holiday is celebrated on the first Monday in June, and owing to the climate being colder than Australia's, it usually serves as the opening weekend to New Zealand ski vacations season! So come on your majesticness and join us on the slopes!
