New Zealand Ski Vacations
Tips for the Beginner

New Zealand Ski Vacations for some of you will be the first time defying gravity. There will be nerves but with preparation and your chosen New Zealand resorts facilities you will be in good hands to enjoy your ski New Zealand holiday.

Forgive us if you think it’s an idiots guide but Phil had to start somewhere and he swears by it!

New Zealand Ski Vacations

In no particular order here are your top ten tips for a great time-ski!

1.

Go to the toilet before you get all togged up in your thermals and layers. You will thank us!

2.

Make sure when you leave your chalet or lodge that you have all your belongings… Lift pass, wallet, goggles, gloves sunblock etc. Don’t gt caught out when you’re up the slopes.

3.

Likewise when on a chairlift keep a hold of your gear. Make use of deep pockets and if necessary use karabiners to secure other items to your person.

4.

If you aren’t familiar walking in ski boots then wear alternative footwear to and from the slopes. Carry them in a backpack while you ski. See how you feel.

5.

Ski lifts, especially draglifts or chair lifts can be difficult to negotiate. Practice getting on and off during quiet periods.

6.

Use sunblock and avoid those tan lines forming concentric rings around your eyes. Besides, you should use it anyway to protect your exposed skin; especially the nose.

7.

Just like going for a run or horse riding. If you haven’t done it then you’ll feel it the next day. As you would at the gym, stretch before and after your runs down the slope. Where possible hot showers, saunas and massage’s at the days end will benefit.

8.

If you can budget for it then take some private tuition to cover the rudiments of Ski New Zealand.

9.

Your clothing for New Zealand ski vacations is everything. Warmth and comfort followed by waterproof outer layers is crucial. Make the weather in New Zealand your friend. For après-ski the choice of course is yours!

10.

Wear headgear.
