New Zealand travel is used to catering for the tourist. Apart from the car and the campervan (both of which are easy to rent or buy for your trip) you can explore with New Zealand bus travel and New Zealand rail travel.
Travel New Zealand Car hire Perhaps the easiest way to travel this beautiful country is by car or campervan (also called motor homes). I’ve been lucky enough to bomb about the bush in a Holden Monaro coupe. You car drivers out there know why there have been so many songs written about, and for, driving! That curling blade of asphalt that sling shots you in a blur along the broad curve of your New Zealand dreams. Only coming to rest when hunger takes over… or you reach your destination… Kiwi or tourist you will experience some of the best driving with the finest scenery imaginable as your backdrop for road travel in New Zealand.
New Zealand Travel by Rail New Zealand rail travel is limited… it’s certainly not what it was. There are commuter train services in Auckland and Wellington with long distant city to city services operated by TranzScenic. New Zealand rail travel is definitely for the tourist with lots of landscape to be enthralled with. There are some good scenic routes and the rail page will go into more detail.
New Zealand by BusHaving taken the local buses all over Auckland and the North island I can tell you that they provide a good service, obviously the more remote the destination the more infrequent the service. And they do the whole thank you thing. You know, when you get off the bus you call out thanks to the bus driver as he or she pulls away burning rubber. If you still want the whole bus experience but would like a bit of organisation then there are backpacker buses and although you’ll not be in charge of your itinerary you will benefit from the knowledgeable guide travelling with you.
However you choose to discover the wonder that is New Zealand make sure you enjoy how you get around. Invest some time in speaking to people about their journey to the land of the long white cloud so when you travel new zealand you can relax and experience it as you wish. Happy travels!
